Once again Welcome ....
Once again welcome to my homepage. To do it short I am married to Marianne who is the niece of Kai and Agnes - actually she is the daughter of Kai's sister Kathe.
Below please find an extract in English from one of my hobbies: Family history research or Genealogy.
The extract includes the following persons that are the parents of Kai and Agnes:
Some opening remarks
The reports that you find here are from my database that is written in Danish. That means that there are some non-English words that you need to know when reading the reports. A few of these are as follows:
Amt is Danish and should be read as County
Församling is Swedish and should be read as Parish
Gem. is short for Gemeinde that is German and should be read as Parish
Herred is Danish and should be read as District
Hertugdømme is Danish and should be read as Duchy
Härad is Swedish and should be read as District
Kirche is German and should be read as Church
Kirke is Danish and should be read as Church
Kreis is German an should be read as County
Königreich is German and should be read as Kingdom
Sogn is Danish and should be read as Parish
And as you might know Agnes' ancestors should be found in Schleswig. The Duchy of Schleswig was a part of Denmark until 1864 when it was conquered by Prussia - and The Kingdom of Prussia was the cornerstone in what became the German Empire in 1871. As a part of the peace negotiations after the First World War it was decided that a referendum in Schleswig should decide whether Schleswig should stay German or become Danish again. The outcome of the referendum was that the northern part of Schleswig was given back to Denmark in 1920 while the southern part remained German. And the new border between Denmark and Germany was drawn just through those two neighbouring parishes where Agnes' parents were born and grew up. - And that gives me some serious problems today in my efforts in searching the ancestors of Agnes.
And just to be accurate: Since 1920 the official Danish name for northern part of Schleswig has been Sønderjylland (in English: South Jutland).
So be patient - do enjoy what I have found till now - and feel assure that I am still working to find new and exciting persons to put in the list of ancestors.
And please do not hesitate to
if you have any comments on
this homepage or any questions about Kai's and Agnes' family.
